What is Claude Enterprise?
Claude is an AI assistant developed by Anthropic – a company founded with a particular focus on AI safety. Claude Enterprise is the business version of Claude, and it differs from standard Claude.ai in several important ways relevant to Norwegian organisations.
This article gives you a practical overview of what you actually get, and what to consider before making a decision.
What sets Enterprise apart from standard Claude?
1. Much larger context window
Claude Enterprise offers a context window of up to 200,000 tokens – equivalent to approximately 150,000 words, or an entire book. This means you can feed in long contracts, complete project documents, or large datasets in a single conversation.
For an HR department, this could mean Claude analysing all job descriptions, employment contracts, and onboarding documents in one session. For a law firm, it could mean reviewing entire contract packages without splitting the content.
2. Admin controls and access management
With Enterprise, the business gets a dedicated admin console where you can:
- Create and manage user accounts
- Set permissions per user or group
- See who uses what and when (audit logs)
- Enable domain capture (everyone with @yourbusiness.com logs in automatically)
This is critical for AI governance – you know who is using AI, for what, and you are in control.
3. SSO and SAML integration
Claude Enterprise supports Single Sign-On (SSO) via SAML 2.0, meaning employees log in with the same username and password as the rest of their systems – Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, etc. No separate passwords, no shadow logins.
4. Data isolation – your data is not used for training
An important point: In the Enterprise version, your conversations are not used to train future models. This is essential for businesses handling sensitive customer information, trade secrets, or personal data.
With the free version, the default is that Anthropic may use conversations for model improvement (unless you actively turn this off). With Enterprise, it is the opposite.
5. Higher capacity limits
Enterprise accounts have prioritised capacity, meaning fewer error messages and delays during busy working hours. For teams that rely on Claude throughout the working day, this is a practical advantage.
6. Claude.ai Projects
Enterprise includes an extended project tool where teams can:
- Share context and documents across conversations
- Create dedicated workspaces per project or department
- Set system instructions that apply across the entire team
What does it cost?
Anthropic does not publicly list a fixed price for Enterprise – pricing is set based on number of users, usage volume, and contract length. The Team plan (one step below Enterprise) costs around 25–30 USD per user per month.
For an SMB with 10–30 users, total cost will typically fall in the range of 3,000–10,000 USD per year, depending on the agreement.
Is Claude Enterprise right for your business?
It is worth considering if:
- You handle sensitive information and need a guarantee that data is not used for training
- You want control over who uses AI and for what
- You work with long documents – contracts, reports, regulations
- You want to integrate AI with existing login systems (SSO)
It is not necessarily the right choice if:
- You are a team of 1–3 people who need a simple tool with no administration requirements
- You do not handle sensitive data and are comfortable with the standard terms
How does it compare to competitors?
Claude Enterprise competes primarily with Microsoft Copilot for M365 and ChatGPT Enterprise (OpenAI).
| Claude Enterprise | ChatGPT Enterprise | Copilot M365 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Context window | 200K tokens | 128K tokens | Varies |
| M365 integration | No | Limited | Yes |
| Security focus | Very high | High | High |
| Norwegian language support | Good | Very good | Good |
For businesses already deeply invested in the Microsoft ecosystem, Copilot for M365 is often the natural choice. For businesses that want the best standalone AI tool regardless of platform, Claude Enterprise is a strong alternative.
Summary
Claude Enterprise gives your business control, capacity, and confidentiality. The key advantages are the admin console, SSO integration, data isolation, and the large context window.
For Norwegian SMBs beginning to take AI seriously, it is a solid choice – particularly if you are already building an AI governance structure and need a tool that fits within it.
